SUNNYVALE, CA — Oct 14, 2014 — Thinknear® by Telenav® (NASDAQ: TNAV), today announced the appointment of Loren Hillberg as president and general manager. Hillberg steps into this role as of October 15, replacing current President and GM Eli Portnoy. Portnoy founded the company in 2011 prior to its 2012 acquisition by Telenav.
Hillberg takes charge of Thinknear following almost six years as vice president and general counsel at Telenav, Thinknear’s parent company. During the last two years, he has worked closely with Thinknear as a strategic advisor, helping to develop new location-based marketing tools.
"Thinknear has been doing great things, and I plan to continue with the same strategy and vision," Hillberg said. "It’s my goal to take the company to the next level, further establishing Thinknear as a leader in mobile advertising while continuing to influence the overall sector as well." Hillberg has successfully driven companies such as Micro Focus, Macromedia and Macrovision (now Rovi) through stages of rapid growth.
"Loren will bring fresh perspective to an already successful part of our company," said HP Jin, Telenav’s president and chief executive officer. "We’re sorry to see Eli go, but we know that under Loren’s leadership and experience with larger-scale businesses, we can expect continued growth and momentum. We would like to thank Eli for his leadership and we are excited to see Loren drive Thinknear’s continued success."
"I know that I am leaving Thinknear in excellent hands," said Portnoy. "Over the last two years, I've come to know Loren very well, and I know that he will further accelerate what is already a thriving arm of Telenav. Thinknear will continue pushing the marketplace forward under his leadership."
Hillberg, an alum of Stanford University and the University of California Hastings College of Law, will be based out of Thinknear’s Silicon Valley offices and will report directly to Jin.
